1. Create an account
   
   Create a user account on the ZAB website. For this, you will need a BundID account. The ZAB’s FAQs will provide you with more information on creating an account.
2. Preparing your documents
   
   Obtain the documents mentioned in the Pre-Check. Scan your documents. Save the scanned documents as PDF files.
3. Fill in the application form
   
   Complete the application form. Upload your documents. You can save the application at any time and continue with it later.
4. Pay the fee
   
   When you submit your application, you can pay the fee directly online.

• When you have uploaded all the documents for the application and the fee has been received in full by the ZAB, the processing time of three months starts. The processing time is shorter for applications for an EU Blue Card or in the Fast-Track Procedure for Skilled Workers.
• Should the ZAB require additional information or documents, you will receive a message to this effect in your BundID account (under “My area”). Here, you can also track the processing status of your application at any time.
• You will receive a message in your digital BundID account as soon as the Statement of Comparability has been issued and is available for download. You will also be informed by e-mail.
