You do not need a ticket to travel to Germany.

You can travel from the border to Berlin, Dresden, Nuremberg or Munich with your Ukrainian passport/ID or a Ukrainian proof of residence and do not need an additional ticket.

If you wish to continue your journey as part of your forced displacement, you will receive a free helpukraine ticket for a one-way journey from the initial reception centres for refugees or reception centres in the respective federal states, which is valid in 2nd class to your desired destination.
Please show your Ukrainian ID (passport/ID) or your Ukrainian proof of residence at the ticket inspection on the train.

You can move freely in Germany. The onward journey by long-distance train to another destination in Germany is free of charge with the #HelpUkraine ticket.  You will find more information here.

A Ukrainian passport or a corresponding Ukrainian identity document is sufficient for travelling to Germany.

You will receive a free ‘helpukraine’ ticket for your onward journey in long-distance rail travel. You can book this with an eToken, which you will receive on a flyer at the initial reception centres in the federal states. The helpukraine ticket is issued to your desired destination in Germany for one day of travel, which is a maximum of three days in the future.
Travelling onwards abroad is not possible with a helpukraine ticket.

You will need a regular ticket for onward travel on local public transport (regional train, S-Bahn, U-Bahn, tram, bus).

Refugees from Ukraine travelling to Germany from Poland, the Czech Republic or Austria can travel to Berlin, Dresden, Nuremberg or Munich with their passport. A Deutsche Bahn ticket is not required.

If you then wish to continue your journey to friends, relatives or acquaintances on a long-distance train (ICE, TGV, RJX, IC/EC) or on local trains (RE/RB trains, S-Bahn trains) within Germany, you will need a ticket.

You will receive a flyer with an eToken at the reception centres of the federal states that allows you to book a free online ticket.

The flyer will only be issued to Ukrainian refugees on presentation of their Ukrainian passport or Ukrainian ID.

A ticket is always required for travelling on local public transport.

Yes. You can take your children with you. Children aged 0-15 will be included on an adult's ticket.

Yes. You can take dogs with you. Please put a leash on any dogs and make sure they do not disturb other passengers.

A "helpukraine" ticket is valid for 2 days.

The helpukraine ticket is valid on all DB long-distance trains. Local trains are also covered if they are included in the journey. A regular ticket must be purchased when travelling on local trains only.
