Do my professional qualifications have to be recognised?

Do my professional qualifications have to be recognised?

If you want to work in an occupation that is not regulated by law, for example office manager or academic occupations such as biologist, chemist or mathematician, then you do not need to have your professional qualifications officially recognised.

Recognition is necessary only if you wish to work in an occupation which is regulated by law, such as

  • physician or nurse
  • teacher in a school or nursery school
  • engineer
  • for some self-employment or business occupations
  • for some certificates, such as master craftsman or mid-level commercial clerk.
